For referring providers

Send the order. We'll take it from there.

Fax or email an order and we contact your patient directly — MRI safety screening, scheduling and preparation instructions. You don't need to chase any of it.

How to refer

  1. Fax the order to (888) 663-9778, or email it to info@originmri.com.
  2. We contact the patient — usually the same business day — to complete screening and schedule.
  3. We handle preparation instructions, including fasting and contrast requirements.
  4. The report goes back to you from the reading radiologist.

What to include on the order

  • Patient name, date of birth and a current phone number
  • Exam and body part, with laterality where it applies
  • With or without contrast, or "per radiologist"
  • Clinical indication and relevant history
  • ICD-10 code
  • Ordering provider name, NPI and callback number

If you're unsure which exam best answers your clinical question, call (832) 982-0845 and we'll talk it through before the order goes out.

Patients who couldn't complete a closed-bore MRI. That's the specific case our open MRI exists for. Note it on the order and we'll schedule additional time, arrange for a support person to remain at the table where appropriate, and plan the sequence order around tolerance.

Sedation

Mild sedation is available on site, which means a patient who would otherwise be referred out for a sedated study can often be completed here in one visit. All medication is provided solely at the clinical discretion of our medical provider following an in-person health screening. Note it on the order if you anticipate it will be needed.

Where the open option helps

  • Claustrophobic patients who have previously required sedation or abandoned a study.
  • Larger patients for whom bore diameter, rather than table weight, has been the limiting factor.
  • Paediatric and anxious patients who tolerate imaging better with a caregiver in the room and in view.
  • Patients with positioning constraints from pain, contracture or respiratory difficulty.

If a particular protocol matters for your question, call (832) 982-0845 before ordering and we'll confirm what we can do.

Equipment and scope

MRI studies are performed on a Hitachi AIRIS Elite open system. We also operate CT and digital X-ray. Those three are the only modalities we provide — we do not perform ultrasound, EMG or nerve conduction studies.

Accreditation

Origin is an accredited facility of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in both MRI and CT. The IAC is one of the organizations designated by CMS to accredit suppliers of advanced diagnostic imaging, which non-hospital facilities must hold to bill Medicare for the technical component of MRI and CT.

For your records, or for the reading radiology group and current report turnaround, call (832) 982-0845 or email info@originmri.com and we'll send them over.

Records and prior imaging

If a comparison study is relevant, note it on the order and we'll request it. Patients can also bring prior imaging on disc to their appointment.

Questions before you order?

Call the scheduling line and ask for the office. We'd rather answer it up front than reschedule your patient.
